TOP TEN MYTHS ABOUT GARDENS TO GO
Okay, okay, we’re not really old enough to have generated any real “myths”…but there have definitely been some misconceptions circulating about Gardens To Go. Here we attempt to address those rumours and set the record straight:

1. Gardens To Go is more expensive than other garden centresAbsolutely not true! We don’t have to stock or maintain as much inventory as conventional garden centres, so we keep our operating costs very low. That translates to prices that are as good as, or sometimes even better than conventional garden centres.

2. You have to purchase something if you call GTG to come to your house.   No obligation! Of course, we firmly believe that once you cast your eyes on our stunning selection of fresh, colourful plants, you’ll see something you like, but there is absolutely no obligation to purchase anything. And naturally, there is no minimum purchase either – if you decide all you want is a cellpack of petunias, that’s absolutely fine by us.

3. GTG only carries annuals.  Well, we wouldn’t be much of a garden centre if that were true. In fact, we carry a full range of garden plants, from cellpacks of annuals, trays of ground covers, gallon and two gallon perennials, all the way up to large container or burlapped trees, and everything in between. And we also carry some hard goods as well: soils and soil amendments, and bionic gardening gloves (which are truly amazing for arthritic hands).

4. GTG buys its stock from other garden centres and supermarketsDefinitely not true - all of our stock comes directly from a variety of local growers, and is hand-selected by us every single week.

5. You have to pay by cash or cheque. Not your only options! We accept Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, and debit, as well as cash. We prefer not to receive payment by cheque.

6. GTG does the planting for you.  It depends....on how busy we are with our appointments. If we cannot accommodate your needs, we'll do our best to provide a contact for you. We do have a very reasonable maintenance plan designed to keep your garden looking its best all summer long, and some replanting may be included in that program.

7.You can’t make your own selections, as you would in a conventional garden centre. Oh yes you can! Actually, we designed our mobile garden centre specifically to allow you to make your own selections. We have a specially designed staircase with handrails, proper plant shelving and even a fan for when things get hot! We will stay close if you have questions (unlike a lot of garden centres), and we can look at your garden and make some suggestions, but you are free to browse to your heart’s content! You’ll be amazed at the number and selection of plants we can arrange in the truck!

8. GTG staff can’t provide any gardening advice. Just try and stop us! The truck is always staffed with knowledgeable, trained and experienced personnel, combining years of formal training with garden centre retail and gardening experience. Chances are that whatever you’re interested in, we’ve sold it before, tried it ourselves and have an opinion and/or practical advice about it. In addition, we carry a full range of reference material, so if you ask us something we can’t answer, we’ll look it up.

9. GTG plants aren’t guaranteedOur plants are guaranteed, but  we have a very limited guarantee compared to other garden centres. We guarantee the variety and the plant health at the time we sell it to you. If you have reason to doubt the named variety or the plant health, you must notify us immediately (within 24 hours). Unfortunately, plant health depends so completely on daily care, that we cannot guarantee on-going health once the stock is out of our hands.

10. GTG is affiliated with another local garden centre (or GTG is a franchise). Absolutely not! We are not affiliated with any other garden centre and we are not part of a franchise. GTG is independently owned and operated by Alex Harrington and Ann Hollings.
