Frequently Asked Questions
Gardens To Go was created to eliminate all the inconvenience and indecision from the garden shopping experience. You probably have dozens of questions about how it all works, and in this section we’ll try to address many of those. If you still have questions that have not been fully addressed, or you have a unique situation you’d like to discuss, then please call us at 519-803-6084.

How do I get Gardens To Go to come to my house? Simplest is to call us at 519-803-6084 to make an appointment. We may already have appointments booked in your area; if not, we can make a special trip to your house. Second, you can contact us by email (see the Contact page of this website) and we can arrange a time that works for you. Or, if you see the Gardens To Go truck stopped in your area, feel free to stop by and talk to us, we’ll probably have time right then to come to your house. If not we can set up a suitable time. |
What if I make an appointment and don’t like anything you bring? We have a "No obligation - No minimum" purchase policy. You are not obligated to purchase from us when you make an appointment. Naturally, we are sure you’ll love everything (after all, we hand select it all ourselves!), but there is absolutely no pressure or obligation to buy. |
What if I don’t know what I want? No problem. If you aren’t sure what you want, we’re happy to help with your selections. We’ll place plants in your garden for you so you can see how they look before you buy, and we’ll make sure you’re selecting the right type of plant and correct numbers for specific locations. We’ll place hanging plants and patio pots where you think you might want them – if they don’t look right to you, we’ll put them back on the truck. |
Can I just shop by myself on the truck? Absolutely. We’ve made every effort to make shopping easy and fun, from a comfortable staircase into the back of our “retail centre”, to tiered plant shelving, a skylight, and a portable fan for those hot days. We set up our counter outside the truck and you can shop in your own time without any pressure from us. |
How do I pay? We accept cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We do not accept cheques or any other credit cards. |
Is there a plant guarantee? Our stock is guaranteed to be true to name and healthy when we bring it to you. If there is any reason to doubt the plant health or variety, you must notify us within 24 hours of purchase. Unfortunately we cannot provide refunds on plants that have been allowed to dry out or have otherwise been stressed after purchase. Please be aware that on hot and windy days it is imperative that you keep your potted plants well-watered and protected, they can expire in a matter of hours. |

Do you provide garden design consultation? Yes we do! Design consultations are available from mid-June until fall. Initial consultation is $100, and usually takes one to two hours. The first visit covers such questions as how you intend to use your garden, what elements you need in the garden, what style you prefer and how much time you like to spend in the garden. We can also lay out some basic flowerbed patterns and make specific plant recommendations, and of course we can bring the plants to you. After the initial visit, we’ll determine next steps and additional design services. |

Will Gardens To Go do my planting for me? Alas, no! We simply do not have the manpower to provide the primary Gardens To Go service AND undertake the planting work in your garden. However, we will be making every effort to line up some keen independent workers for you (and if you are someone who would like us to pass your name to potential clients, please let us know). |
